Welcome to Prima Voce Music Studio!
Hi, I'm Rita.
Prima Voce Music Studio specializes in voice coaching and piano lessons (beginner to intermediate) for children 7 years and older, and adults of all ages. French Horn tutoring is also available.
“Prima Voce“ (PREEmah VŌchay) is Italian for "first voice," but can also be used to describe the "sweet spot" of your voice. It is the place in your vocal range where singing comes the easiest, and your voice sounds and feels the best. As I experience it, it's when a song is put in the key where my voice feels the most comfortable, like a well-worn pair of shoes. I can relax into my voice, allowing me to easily connect with the lyrics and express myself effortlessly through the melody.
I'd love to help all my students find the sweet spot of their musical expression, be it through voice, piano or horn.
Rita McConville
Music is more than just a passion of mine. Music is who I am and how I express myself. And through our lessons, I help my students deepen their own connection to it, too.
I'm a lifelong musician. At three years old, I started turning pages for my mother while she played the organ in our small-town church. I began piano lessons in the second grade and picked up the French horn in fifth grade, all while singing in my mother's church choir. I played horn through college, returned to music ministry after graduation, and ultimately moved to Chicago, where I joined another church choir and began taking private voice lessons to improve my singing. What I didn't know then is that those lessons would last for 10 years. I teach what I've learned over the years, and what works for me as a professional singer in Chicago and the Northwest Suburbs.
Taste of Chicago
I was part of a band with my FOXChicago colleagues and
we performed at the FOX Bandstand during Taste of Chicago for many years.
Before I became a private music teacher, I had a 20+ career
in local broadcast television, in Wisconsin and Chicago.

former RJO Musical Director
and dear friend
I sang with this wonderful big band for seven years
at suburban outdoor venues over the summer months.
And now... Teacher
I've spent the last 10 years teaching at a couple of music stores and a small music school.
It is time for me to go out on my own.
I have a good group of talented students
but there's always room for more!
